Laura Creech

Laura Juanita Creech, a beloved resident of Godfrey, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. She was 97 years old.

Born on October 7, 1926, Juanita was the daughter of Edgar S. and Clara (Bishop) Vinyard.

Her life was marked by love, resilience, and a deep connection to family. Juanita’s journey was shaped by two enduring marriages. In 1946, she married Harold David Scroggins in Alton. Their union was filled with shared dreams, laughter, and the joys of raising a family. Tragically, David passed away in 1963, leaving Juanita to navigate life’s challenges with courage and grace.

In 1967, Juanita found companionship once again when she married Harold Franklin Creech in Bunker Hill, Illinois. Together, they built a life steeped in love, adventure, and cherished memories. Harold’s passing in 2002 left a void, but Juanita’s spirit remained unyielding.

Juanita’s legacy lives on through her five devoted sons: Randolph David Scroggins (Nancy Cagle) of Bunker Hill, IL, Wesley Edward Scroggins (Mary Vice) of Naperville, IL, Bradley Dale Scroggins (Barbara Agnes) of Westerly, RI, Roger Dwight Scroggins (Beth Strohmeier) of Westfield, IN, and Ted Warren Scroggins (Linda Langston) of Fountain Hills, AZ.

Her nurturing spirit extended to eleven cherished grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her love in their hearts. Juanita was also a sister to two remarkable women:  Geraldine “Gerry” King of Mt. Vernon, IL and Wanda Lucy Durborow of Fullerton, CA.

She was preceded in death by her dear parents, beloved husbands, daughter-in-law, Nancy Cagle Scroggins and grandson, Daniel Edward Scroggins.

Juanita may be honored through memorial contributions to the St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Arrangements for Juanita are entrusted to Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL. For additional information, please visit Gent Funeral Home’s website at www.gentfuneralhome.com
