Larry Dale Duncan, 84, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on April 19, 1941, in Palmyra, IL, the son of Melvin Dale and Louise (Pratt) Duncan.
Larry married Nita Thompson on September 11, 1960, in Bethalto, IL, and she survives.
Larry was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Bethalto. He retired from General Motors where he had worked on the assembly line for many years. His passion was raising, training and running racehorses. He also enjoyed farming. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Larry will be remembered as a good man, and a loving husband and father.
In addition to his wife, Nita, Larry is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law; Brad and Rendy Duncan of Ottawa, IL, and Brian Duncan of East Alton, IL; a brother and his wife, Randy and Sharon Duncan; four grandchildren, Kevin and Rebecca Duncan, Joey Duncan, Danny Duncan, and Sarah Duncan; and many other relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Kevin Dwane Duncan.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Josh Crisp officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
