Katherine Akers

Katherine "Kathy" S. Akers, 69, of Gillespie, IL, died at her residence on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 11:38 pm.

She was born September 16, 1956, in Wood River, IL to Charles Edward McGee & Nancy Lee Bailey McGee. She married Billy Joe Akers on April 12, 2009 in Gillespie, IL.

Katherine enjoyed going to auctions, yard sales, collecting angels and porcelain dolls and being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her spouse, Billy Joe Akers of Gillespie, IL, children, Jennifer Brown of Hillsboro, IL, Robert Jones of Carlinville, IL, Ashley Jones of Lincoln, IL, grandchildren, Ariel Boeck, Deven Boeck, Savhanna Brown, Saiyge Brown, D.J. Brown, Kaiyden Brown, Jaye'cee Ziegler, Blakely Jones, Phoenix Jones, great-grandchildren, Sophia Eaton, Paisley Eaton, Bentley Eaton, Rowan Eaton, Leanna Boeck, Zane Brand, sisters, Patricia (Michael) Jones of South Carolina, Tina Faulkner of Bunker Hill, IL, Janice (Bradley) Mills of Brighton, IL, and brother, Mark (Shirley) McGee of Brighton, IL.  

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchildren and best friend Rob Lytle (Chico).  

Friends may call on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services are Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial will be at Gillespie Cemetery, Gillespie, IL.
