Joyce Morgan

Mrs. Joyce Lee Morgan was born May 24, 1938 in Alton Illinois to the late Willie and Pattie Mae (Hutchins) Herron. She married Samuel Morgan Sr. in 1957. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage before he proceeded her in death.
Joyce graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1956. She was employed at Christian North Hospital for several years. She later became a homemaker and raised her children.
 Joyce joined Deliverance Temple Church of God and Christ in 1985 and was a faithful and active member of the Church. She enjoyed being around family and friends.
On Monday, June 15, 2015 at 5:00 a.m., Mrs. Morgan received eternal rest and peace at her home. She was blessed with 77 years of life. In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by three brothers: William Herron, Carl Herron, and Maurice Herron. Three sisters: Ethel (Pookie) McLemore, Sharon (Shag) Terry, and Darlene Robinson.
Mrs. Joyce Morgan leaves to forever cherish her memories, eight children: Salathiel (Joni) Morgan of Alton IL., Stanley (Cherly) Morgan of Alton IL., Sonia (Kenneth) Womack of Edwardsville IL., Shelton Morgan of Rock Island IL., Simeon (Loretta) Morgan of Davenport IA., Samuel Morgan Jr. and Stephen Morgan of Tulsa Ok., and Sharon (Andrew) Parker of Wagoner OK. 35 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Four siblings: Brenda (Larry) Beard, and Gloria Winn of Alton IL., Melva Gordon of Wagoner OK., and Christopher (Leslie) Robinson of Decatur IL. Two Sister in laws: Marie Herron and Zora Herron of Alton IL.  One Aunt: Tempie White of Memphis TN, and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will convene Friday, June 19 from 9 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Deliverance Temple C.O.G.I.C.  Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Dr. Gregory L. Harrison will officiate.  Guest registry and condolences are available: www.harrisonfuneralchapel.com.
