Josephine Talbert

Josephine C. Talbert, 68, died unexpectedly at 8:17 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

She was born in Alton, Illinois on June 22, 1957, and was the daughter of Aran and Thelma (Ennis) Weid Sr.

Although Josephine did not have any children of her own, she was blessed with a family that held her tight, loved her like she loved them, and had an unbreakable bond with her siblings and their families.   She was the Sister and Aunt, that had a way of making sure when she was around, fun was going to happen.

She married Walter Talbert on February 3, 1976 in Jerseyville, and together they shared 14 years before his death on November 2, 1990.

She is survived by her sister, Lula Flowers of Grafton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John Kukawski and his companion, David Jones of  St. Louis, Mike and Marcie Weid of Godfrey, and Charles and Allison Weid of Wood River; a brother-in-law, James Godar of Hardin; her special grandchildren, Drew of Machesney Park, Il., and Heather (Ryan) Wittex of Troy, Il; and great grandchildren, Tailer, Lexie Jo, Levi and Jaden; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Aran and Myrna Weid Sr.; her mother, Thelma Weid; a brother and sister-in-law, Aran and Susan Weid Jr.; two sisters, Catherine Bell and Marian "Mary" Godar; and a brother in-law, Richard Flowers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Private burial will take place at Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton.

Memorials may be given to the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary.
