Joseph “Joe” Mark Sweazey, 47, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Alton, Illinois. Joe was born on November 12, 1978, in Minnesota, the beloved son of the late Mark John Puhr and Peggy Jane Zigan.
Joe proudly worked at ACT Autobody in Alton, where his skill, craftsmanship, and dedication were evident in everything he touched. A true jack of all trades, Joe could fix, build, or repair anything with an engine, and his autobody work was widely admired for its quality and precision. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike.
Above all, Joe will be remembered for his kind heart and generous spirit. He was a devoted and loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. Joe never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand, offering his time, talents, or simply a listening ear to anyone in need. His warmth, humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his cherished daughter, Izabelle Sweazey of Granite City, Illinois; his dear brothers, Terry (Keri) Sweazey of Granite City, Illinois, and Dave Johnson of Vandalia, Missouri; along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply.
In accordance with Joe’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a memorial gathering celebrating his life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on January 31, 2026, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 4225 Old Alton Road, Granite City, IL.
