Joseph Brown

Joseph Morrison “Joe” Brown, 61, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born June 29, 1964, in Herrin, Illinois, the son of Ruby Doris (Storey) Brown of Granite City and the late Reverend Vernon Archibald Brown.

Joe was a lifelong car enthusiast and dedicated mechanic for over 40 years. He loved attending car shows and especially cherished his Corvette. Known for his skill and resourcefulness, Joe could fix just about anything and enjoyed tinkering with engines, from automobiles to lawn mowers. He was a longtime member of Dewey Avenue United Methodist Church and also enjoyed attending Harvest Community Church. Joe was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his daughter, Bailey Brown of Richland Hills, Texas; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Steve Walton of Granite City, Robyle and Brent Baker of Arrington, Tennessee, Becky and Mike Heard of Shiloh, Priscilla James of Arrington, Tennessee, and Evangeline and Doug James of Granite City; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other extended family members and friends.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Harvest Community Church, 4598 IL-162 in Granite City from 10:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026. A graveside service will follow at Percy Cemetery in Percy, Illinois at 2:30 p.m. Reverend Roy Boyer will officiate. Memorials may be made to Harvest Community Church.
