Jonathan "JD" Vail, 32, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at his home.
He was born on December 21, 1991 in Litchfield, IL, the son of Jonathan Vail and Julie, and Barbara Kirkwood and Chris Harbaugh.
JD was a Pokemon GO! fanatic. He always wanted to be a storm chaser and loved storms and rain. JD enjoyed gardening, fishing, and being outdoors. His favorite color was red. JD loved WWE and Blues Hockey. JD is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents; JD is survived by his maternal grandparents, Dave and Kathy Kirkwood; four siblings, Jeremey Vail, Josh Vail, Samantha Vail, and Colton Kirkwood; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
JD is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nolan and Judy Vail, and a special aunt, Amy Thiems.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Dave Burger officiating.
Burial will take place in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
The family has asked that live plants be sent instead of fresh flowers in memory of JD's love of plants and gardening.
