Jonathan McCausland

Jonathan David “Dave” McCausland, 68, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on November 12, 1957, in Beardstown, Illinois, Dave was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Margaret “Peg” (Wright) McCausland. From the very beginning, Dave carried with him a warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit that would define his life and endear him to all who knew him.

On August 1, 1981, in Beardstown, Dave married the love of his life, Kim. Their marriage of over four decades was a beautiful testament to devotion, partnership, laughter, and unwavering love. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship.

A faithful and active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Dave’s deep faith guided his life and service. Professionally, he retired from Roho Permobil as Vice President of Government Affairs after many years of distinguished and impactful work. Dave was instrumental in advancing legislative changes that allowed Medicare to cover critical medical equipment previously unavailable to many in need. His advocacy improved countless lives and reflected his lifelong commitment to helping others with dignity and compassion.

Dave’s talents and passions extended far beyond his professional accomplishments. A gifted musician with a deep love for theatre, he directed numerous productions at local theaters and at St. Boniface Catholic Church, sharing his creativity and enthusiasm with the community. He had a natural ability to bring people together, whether through music, storytelling, or simply his unmistakable laugh.

Proud of his Irish heritage, Dave embraced life with joy and a twinkle in his eye. He loved good conversation, lively gatherings, and a bit of well-earned merriment. He truly never met a stranger — only friends he hadn’t yet gotten to know. His kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Above all, Dave was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, a loyal brother, a treasured uncle, and a steadfast friend. His greatest joy was his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kim McCausland of Glen Carbon, Illinois; his loving sons, David McCausland of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Douglas (Courtney) McCausland of Oakland, California; his dear brothers, Joseph “Dan” McCausland of Waunakee, Wisconsin, Col. Jeff (Marianne) McCausland of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Jim (Jan) McCausland of St. Louis, Missouri; along with cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Dave’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Illinois, with Father Jeff Goeckner officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church. Contributions will be accepted at the funeral chapel and church.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in a life beautifully lived. Dave leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, service, and love that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
