Jon Kinder

Jon J. Kinder, 84, of Meppen, IL died peacefully at Evelyn’s Hospice House on July 6, 2024. He was born on March 26, 1940, in Batchtown, IL to William and Alice (Barbara/Creech) Kinder. On October 14, 1961, he married the love of his life, Marie C. Hillen.

Jon was a Union Carpenter for 45 years, a lifetime farmer, and avid woodworker.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his daughter Judy (Steve) Pohlman, son Jeffrey (Karen) Kinder, daughter Rita (Keith) Hagen, son Gary (Bhairavi) Kinder, and daughter Sarah (Ken) Schleeper; 12 grandchildren, Brian (Kylene) Pohlman, Ben (Kayla) Pohlman, Kaye (Michael) Gilbreth, Joshua Kinder, Anna Kinder, Emma (Jake Roberts) Schleeper, Maria Payne, Lily Schleeper, Ella Kinder, William Schleeper, Katherine Schleeper, and Eve Schleeper; and 7 great grandchildren.

Also survived by a brother Gilbert (Shirley) Kinder, sisters Linda Kirn and Mary Ann Hetzel; sisters-in-law Rebecca Kinder, Rose Ann Kinder, Patricia Friedel, Jane (Dave) Badgley; brother-in-law Gary Fortschneider; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws Clem and Irene Hillen, a grandson Jacob Hagen; brothers Ronald Kinder, Hugh Kinder, and Kenneth Kinder; brother-in-law Ronald Friedel; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Fortschneider.

He fiercely loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church in Meppen.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
