John S. Ruemmler, 57, of Cottage Hills, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 2:28 pm, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born on August 11, 1967, in Alton, IL, the son of Wilbur H. Ruemmler and Maxine A. (Taul) Ruemmler-Melton. John married Jeannette E. Cook in Bunker Hill on August 17, 2002.
John worked as a truck driver and was on the South Roxana Fire Department. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Some hobbies that John enjoyed were wood working, painting, and drawing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his wife, Jeannette, he is survived by his five children, Stephanie (Dylan) Harkey of Cottage Hills, Austin (fiancé Courtney Oberheim) Ruemmler of East Alton, Joey (fiancé Tori Agney) Ruemmler of Bethalto, Kaitlynn (fiancé Justice Hall) Ruemmler of Edwardsville, and Brianna Ruemmler of Cottage Hills; two sisters and a brother, Violet (Steven) Dorman of Wood River, Jeanette Contreras of Cottage Hills, and Bud (Thu) Ruemmler of Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Grayson, Maebri, Herminey, and Casen; and two more grandchildren on the way.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Maxine; and his step-father, Joe Melton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, with Pastor Andre Dobson as officiate.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
