John E. Gwillim, 71, passed away at 5:40 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on January 25, 1954 in Alton, Illinois to Clarence and Dolores (Logan) Gwillim.
John loved fishing and spending time out on the river, and in the woods. Time with his family and animals was his favorite. He was a machinist for the local union.
John is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Brad) Bechtold of Elsah, IL., and Jennifer (Brian) McCormick of Texas; grandchildren, Blake Bechtold, Piercyn Bechtold, Cody Colley, Kylee McCormick, and Breanna McCormick; sisters, Sharon Gwillim of Hamburg, IL, and Susan (David) Yost of Gillespie, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home, Godfrey, IL
