John Gideon

John Curtis Gideon (J.C.), 83, of Belleville IL, born April 1, 1942, and passed away May 5, 2025.

J.C. was a 1960 graduate of Centralia High School and a Vietnam Era veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a Charter Member of the Sierra Club – Kaskaskia Goup, a member of the St. Clair County Genealogical Society, Sons of Confederate Veterans and Belleville Holzschnitzers. He enjoyed reading, photography, woodworking, history, gardening, camping and the outdoors.

J.C. was preceded in death by his:

• Parents, Foster N. and Esther E., nee Wood
• Sister, Daphne Geraldine Romack

Surviving is his:

• Daughter, Ellen (Frank) Nefzger of Jackson, MI

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sierra Club – Kaskaskia Goup.

Services: A private burial will take place at a later date.
