John Joseph Boner, 81, passed away at 6:50 pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home.
He was born on June 1, 1943, in Edwardsville, IL the son of Allen and Johanna May (Kayser) Boner.
John started working at General Motors when he was 18 year of age and retired from General Motors in their Graphic Art Division. Artistry ran deep in his veins, showcasing his talent through acrylic paintings and melodies on his guitar. His creative prowess earned him numerous accolades, and he proudly served as a member of the St. Charles Arts Guild. Beyond his artistic endeavors, John found joy in golfing, fishing, and cherished moments with his grandchildren.
John is survived by children, Kimberly (Kent) Kattelman- Diveley of Alton, IL, Gregory (Dawn) Boner of Bethalto, IL, Jeffrey (Amy) Boner of Bunker Hill, IL, and Stephanie (Brian) Orr of Brighton, IL; siblings, Robert Boner of Fetus, MO, Rose Marie Frey of Collinsville, IL, and Daniel Boner of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Kyle (Kristie) Kattelman, Kristopher (Angelia) Kattelman, Dustin (Gena) Boner, Jeffrey (Kaitlin) Boner, Joshua Boner, Kelsey Boner, Andrew (Ashley) Orr, and Samantha (Nathan) Luck; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene F. Boner; a son-in-law, Kevin Kattelman; and a nephew, John Boner.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL. Burial of ashes will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
