John F. Armstrong, 76, of Bethalto, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Christian Northeast Hospital.
He was born on June 30, 1948 in Alton, IL, the son of Carl E. and Helen I. (Korte) Armstrong. John married Carolyn "Kay" Rievley in Godfrey on March 3, 1984. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2024.
John is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. He worked at Laclede Steel as a wire stripper until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Word and Spirit Family Church in Godfrey. He enjoyed fishing, BBQs, being outdoors, but most of all spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his children, Beth (Michael) Butler of St. Charles, Janice (Thomas) Coffman of Belleville, and Brian Armstrong; and six grandchildren, Lauryn, Dante, Noah, John, Ethan, and Xander.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene F. Armstrong.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 1 pm until time of service at 3 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Bryan Tuggle will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Madison County Human Society and/or Word and Spirit Family Church in Godfrey.
