It is with heavy hearts that we announce that James Robert "Jimmie" Johnson, 54, passed away at 7:52 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at home.
He was born on October 2, 1969, in Alton, IL to Robert J. and Mary Lou "Peanut" (McClintock) Johnson.
He married his grade school sweetheart, Catherine Ann Huber on November 10, 2001, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Jimmie and Cathy were inseparable and were blessed with two beloved sons, Nash and Noah Johnson.
As the owner/operator of Johnson's Corner, Jimmie poured his passion into his work. An avid duck hunter, he cherished the outdoors and the joy it brought him. Jimmie's athletic prowess was recognized when he was inducted into Alton High's Athletic Hall of Fame for soccer.
Along with his loving wife, Cathy, and beloved sons, Nash and Noah Johnson, Jimmie is survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Ann (Paul) Moses; stepmother-in-law, Sandy "Nana" Huber; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Jeanne (Chris) Peipert, Jackie (Mark) Cain, Judy Durr, Jane Strebel (Keith Krueger), Julie (Ethan) Basler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Thomas Otley), Matthew Huber, Suzanne (John) Koechner, John Huber, Nancy Ann Hampton (Ernie Long); nieces and nephews, Wendie Peipert (Ryan Suprunowski), Nick (Kendall) Cain, Tony (Katie) Cain, David (Jen) Strebel, Abbie (Dustin) Hodge, Matt Cain, Jason (Katie) Peipert, Monica (Jeff) Hardin, Posy (Shane) Henderson, Savanna Durr (Jacob Webb), Jett Durr (Cheyenne Hogue), Alex Basler (Alex Wirth); and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Esther Johnson and Gregory and Margaret McClintock; brothers-in-law, Jim Strebel and Chris Durr; and nephew, Gregory Peipert.
Visitation will be at 11 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm on Monday, September 23, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, IL. Father John Luong, OMV will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Hospital and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, IL.
