Janice Downing

Janice M. Downing, 79, of Godfrey, passed away at 7:43 pm on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Bria of Godfrey with her family by her side.

She was born on October 13, 1943, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of the late Marion and Bernice (Hellrung) Twichell.

Janice retired from the Alton Belle Casino. She enjoyed spending time with family and watching her grandkids grow up.

She is survived by her children, Tina Downing of Roxana, and Terry Downing of Godfrey; her sisters, Jackie (Ron) Lesicko, and Carolyn (Mike) Bradley, a sister-in-law, Pat Twichell; a daughter-in-law, Angela Downing; a brother-in-law, Jack Quigley; her grandchildren, Anna Maxey, Bradley Beck, Christa (Michael) Barnett, James (Elaina) Downing, Samantha Downing, Brooklyn Downing, Jarrod Downing, and Michael Vinyard; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews, and goddaughter, Kelly Huber.

Along with her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her son, Rodger Downing; a grandson, Kevin Maxey; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Downing; and siblings, Marilyn Quigley, Don Twichell, Jerry Twichell, Joe Twichell, Bobby Twichell, Jim (Mary Jane) Twichell, and Tom Twichell.

A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Father Christopher Uhl, OMV officiating.

Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
