Janice Lowry
Midway, IL | Save
Janice Kay Lowry, 66, of Midway, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at her residence.
She was born on July 4, 1958, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Thomas and Velma (Bailey) Azinger. Janice was adopted but later reconnected with her birth family. She grew up in Keokuk, IA, where she met and married the love of her life, Steve Lowry, on January 14, 1978, and he survives. In 1985, Janice and her family relocated to Moro, IL, to start a new life, but Keokuk, IA, always held a special place in her heart.
Janice "Jan" was a member of First Baptist Church of Bethalto, where she was also a member of the Women's Bible Study group. She enjoyed crappie fishing, gardening, swimming, cooking, camping, arts and crafts, but above all, spending time with her loved ones. Jan's greatest joy was raising her five sons and grandchildren. She was graciously present and involved in their lives in every way. When Jan cooked, her boys always came running because "Momma" never failed to add her special ingredient, love. Jan's values were rooted in her strong faith, which shined through her acts as a family homemaker. Additionally, she was a lifetime caregiver of her parents, children, grandchildren, and countless dear friends. Her greatest gift to all was her unwavering compassion and kind heart. Jan will be deeply missed for the amount of love she extended to all her friends and family.
Along with her husband, Steve, she is survived by her children, Jason (Ellyn) Lowry, Daniel (fiancée Brittany Eads) Lowry, Jacob (Tara) Lowry, Jordan Lowry, and Justin Lowry; her sister, Linda Burke; her grandchildren, Thomas, Jack, and Maria; her cousins, Annette Daniels and Tami Sanchez; an uncle, Al Azinger; and an aunt, Marscine Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Velma Azinger; her birth mother, Sally Burke; a son, John David Lowry; her sister, Colleen Burke; and her best friend, Donna Warren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m., at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Phil Warren will officiate.
