Janice Lafferty

Janice Darlene Lafferty, 71, died at 2:22 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born November 11, 1952, in Alton, she was the daughter of Warren Charles and Mary (Bowman) Swift. Janice retired in 2014 after 20 years as a counselor for William BeDell Achievement and Resource Center. 

She was an avid reader and loved dancing, word search, working puzzles, going to music concerts and collecting angels. Janice loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She is survived by her husband and life partner, Thomas Allred of Alton, her children, Danielle (Sherman) Williams of Alton, Robert (Tracey) Whitten of Alton, Melissa Honchell of Alton, and Mary Beth (Monte) Cope of Wood River, 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Mike Adams will officiate.
