Janet Steinbrueck

Janet L. Steinbrueck, 88, died at 5:22 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2025 at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was born November 13, 1937 in Alton, the daughter of the late Orville and Bernice (Burleson) Jackson.

Janet was a graduate of the Alton High School Class of 1955 and a member of the Upper Alton Women’s Club. She worked for many years as a teller with the 1st National Bank in Alton.

On May 24, 1956 in Alton, she married William E. Steinbrueck and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2023.

Surviving are one son, Paul Steinbrueck (Lori) of Godfrey, one daughter, Jill Lorsbach (Greg) of Godfrey, four grandchildren, Korby Piel, Jacob Piel, Peter Steinbrueck (Emileigh), Jackson Lorsbach and three sisters, Carol Cannavan of Wood River, Gail Woolverton of Troy, IL and Claire Jackson (Michael Aaron) of Florissant, MO., one sister in law, Mary Hummel of Missouri and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Steven Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson, Nathan Jackson and one sister, Barbara Buckshot, sister in law, Betty Jackson, Brother in law, Ron Buckshot, brother in law, Al Woolverton and her in laws, Elmer and Pearl Steinbrueck.

Private graveside services will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.

Gent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Alton Youth Symphony or ABOB.
