James Young

James “Jim” Victor Young, 82, of Belleville, IL, born October 19, 1942, in Herrin, IL, died Friday, August 1, 2025, at Autumn Meadows of Cahokia, Cahokia, IL.

Jim worked as an industrial salesman for several companies before his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Jim had a passion for helping others and was a longtime volunteer and past director of the Community Interfaith Food Pantry. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine. He was a talented artist and specifically enjoyed making industrial art. Above all, Jim was an amazing father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna J. Young, nee Shepherd, who died on August 12, 2022; his parents, Robert J. and Kathryn L., nee Burkhart, Young; his brother, Robert Young; and his sister, Virginia Young.

He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Shannon) Young and Stephen (Jamie) Young; his granddaughter, Allyson Young; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his dear friends, Gary (Lana) Shepek and Kristie Marshiano.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Michael Foppe officiating.
