James L. “Jim” Wade, 91, of Belleville, IL, born March 3, 1934, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, in O’Fallon, IL.
Jim retired from civil service after 32 years, taking great pride in his work in the Apache Helicopter Project Management Office, where he played a key role in the development of the helicopter. A passionate classic car enthusiast, he was a proud member of the H.H. Franklin Club, Inc. Jim cherished his Tuesday mornings with the R.O.M.E.O. Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out), served his country with honor as a United States Air Force veteran and was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Wade; his mother, Irma, nee Oliver, Hughes; two sisters, Dona (Paul) Harper and Mary Wade; and two brothers, Robert “Bob” Wade and John Hughes.
He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Hazel L., nee Vines, Wade, whom he married on August 31, 1963; two daughters, Shellie (Tim) Brown and Diana (Dave) Daily; a granddaughter, Emily (Cameron) Corbin; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Wade and Mary Ruth (Walter) Harris.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Heartland Hospice, with special appreciation to Ulrika, Trina, Andreia, Nicole, and Randy for their exceptional care and compassion. They are also deeply thankful to the warm and loving Winstanley Baptist Church community, as well as to their wonderful, caring neighbors, for the countless prayers, acts of kindness, and unwavering support they have so generously given.
