James Neumann
Saint Louis | Save
James Richard Neumann Sr. - Born January 14, 1943, to William & Flora Neumann of St. Louis.
Went to sleep peacefully on July 22, 2024 & never woke up.
Jim attended school in St. Louis until joining the US Navy in January of 1960. While home on leave he met the love of his life Patricia Groves. They married on March 26, 1962, and moved to California where Jim was stationed and was deployed on the USS Yorktown.
After the Navy they moved back to the St. Louis area and Jim worked for McDonald Douglas painting airplanes. He then attended ITT, now Ranken and received his diploma in Automotive Technology.
After purchasing their first home in Alton, Jim and Pat started their own Business, Neumann Automotive, located behind their house. Their business flourished and was relocated to Washington Ave in Upper Alton. They were in business together for 27 years, until retiring and selling the property.
Jim then took a job working for his son at Cargotec/Hiab where he became a truck driver.
He was a member of the IGOA and Upper Alton Business Association and a member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church then the Bethalto United Methodist Church.
He and his wife Pat loved to travel in their motorhome, spending countless winters in the south and out west. Jim always made sure to top off his tank which made us wonder how he ran out of gas so frequently'
He loved and took pride in his Family, Friends, CARS, Clothes and Jewelry… not in that order.
Jim lived life on his own terms, parking wherever he wanted, two-hour meals, inappropriate jokes. One of a kind, and we were glad.
Jim is survived by his wife Pat…… married for 62 years, living her best life at Cedarhurst of Bethalto
He left a legacy through his family, his Son Jim Neumann (Teresa Carver) of Byrnes Mill, MO, Daughter TJ Nappier (Scott) of Bethalto. Grand Children - James (Jessica) Neumann of Mascoutah. Keagan Nappier (Dan Hagerty) of Webster Groves, Mo, Brian (Katie) Nappier of Midway, Jessica Neumann (Josh Hull) of East Alton, GySgt Daniel (Alexis) Nappier of N. Carolina, Jenna (Jake) Giess of Raymore Mo, Tricia (Tanner) Braswell of Prairietown. Great Grand Children Waylon Neumann, Bethany Nappier, Lane Nappier, Evan Hull, Hadley Jo Braswell, with 2 on the way, Baby Hull and Baby Giess.
