James Moore

James “Jim” E. Moore, age 80, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, with his beloved wife Shari at his side.

Born on March 16, 1945, in Fredericktown, Missouri, Jim was the cherished son of the late David and Essie (Cox) Moore.  A proud veteran, Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that instilled in him the values of discipline, humility, and service.

On March 1, 1975, Jim married the love of his life, Sharon “Shari” Baker, in Granite City, Illinois.  Their marriage was a beautiful testament to devotion and partnership, filled with laughter, shared dreams, and unwavering support for one another across five remarkable decades.

Jim dedicated his professional life to Western Supplies Company in St. Louis, Missouri, where he excelled as a tool and die designer and manager.  Known for his precision and strong work ethic, he was respected by colleagues and clients alike.

A man of deep faith, Jim was a loyal member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City.  He found great joy and comfort in reading the Bible, nurturing his spiritual life and guiding others with quiet wisdom and compassion.

Jim was also a man of many passions.  He loved traveling with Shari, tending to his meticulously cared-for yard, and capturing the beauty of life through the lens of his camera.  An accomplished amateur photographer, Jim had a keen eye for detail, and his images reflected his deep appreciation for God’s creation.  He never met a stranger and was known for his warm demeanor, generous heart, and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Shari Moore of Glen Carbon, IL; his dear brothers, Larry (Myra) Moore of Florissant, MO, and Donald (Phyllis) Moore of Andalusia, AL; as well as extended family members, and a host of treasured friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon, IL, and Saturday, August 8, 2025, from 9 a.m. till time of service.
