James “Jimmie” Edward Hewitt, 72, of Brighton, Passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
He was born on December 16, 1952, in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late James Edward Hewitt and JoAnn (Foster) Dowdy.
Jimmie served in the United States Army as a cook. He worked at Beverly Farms in food services, and enjoyed cooking and grilling for his family.
He is survived by four children, Dennis Gwin, Mandi Gwin (Bradley Hart), Stephanie (Nick) Warren, and Megan (Nate) Hart all of Brighton, sixteen grandchildren, Laney Warren, Alexis Hart, Lotus Gwin, Leiha Gwin, Asher Gwin, Rylee Hart, Ryder Hart, Bradley Hart, Isaac Hart, Emmie Hart, Alyssa Warren, Novalee Warren, Alexis Parshley, Jimmy Hewitt, Victoria Hewitt, and Adrianna Hewitt; Cheri Gwin; siblings, Alice Faye (Miguel) Santos, Debra (Dave) Davis, and Donald Hewitt; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents; son James Hewitt.
Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton, with no services scheduled.
