James F. Summers, 74, passed away at 2:43am Tuesday February 28, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born in Versailles, MO on March 14, 1937 the son of the late Frank and Bessie (Vogt) Summers. On September 29, 1990, James married Brenda Wickham in Alton, Il. She survives. James retired from Boeing Aviation after working 44 years as an Electrician. He was an avid photographer, and volunteered as an Election Judge in the Alton area for many years, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, and one daughter: Christina Summers of Alton, one son and his spouse: Jeffrey and Chrissy Summers of Lebanon, Il. one step-daughter and her spouse: Candy and Gary Coyne of LeHigh Acres, FL. and one step-son and his spouse: Richard and Denise Wickham of Alton, ten grandchildren: Robert Steele, Timothy Mielke, Andrew and Hannah Summers, Brittanie and Tiffanie Jennings, Dale Ploog, Stephanie, Samantha, and Dennis Wickham, six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: William Summers.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL. Funeral service will be at 1 pm Friday, March 2, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Rev. Jim Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, IL.
