Jacob Fickle

Jacob “Jake” L. Fickle, 38, died at 8:16 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at his residence. He was born January 27, 1988 in Springfield, IL the son of Heather (Fickle) Nicholson.

He worked as a union carpenter for Local #664 of Wood River. He was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed target practice, four-wheeling, creek walking for arrowheads, and gun and knife collecting.

Besides his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Merrilee Fickle of Godfrey, a step-daughter Erieanna McBride of Cottage Hills, three sons, Wyatt, Max and Myles Fickle all of Godfrey, two brothers, Jason Fickle-Nicholson and Jeremy Simpson, one sister, Hayley Nicholson, two nieces, a nephew, and his maternal grandmother, Arla Fickle, all of Godfrey.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Malcolm C. Fickle. 

Visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville, IL.
