Helen Mulholland

Helen Antoinette Mulholland, 91, died peacefully at 7:20 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. 

Born April 5, 1933 in West Alton, MO, she was the daughter of William and Emma (Roderfeld) Wunderlich. She married Kenneth Mulholland on January 28, 1956 in West Alton, MO. He survives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Janet Baiter (Robert) of Alton, a son, Doug Mulholland of Alton, two grandchildren, Jennifer Mulholland (Kyle Hargis), and Neil Roper (Brooklynn Rudolph), and three great-grandchildren, Mason Hargis, Lilliana Hargis, and Nixon Roper.  She is also survived by a sister, Pauline Brass of Godfrey. 

Along with her parents, She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Lillian and Lawrence Hunn, John and Verna Wunderlich, Kenneth and Ethel Wunderlich, Wynona and Cyril Beckham, Eileen and John Hayes, Laura and Elmer Bechtold, Tom and LaVerne Wunderlich, Charles and Bernadine Wunderlich, Lawrence and Myrt Wunderlich, Victor Wunderlich, Catherine and Bob Krueger, and Joe Brass. 

Helen worked in private duty nursing and cared for many prominent people in the community. In her later years, she worked as a pharmacy technician at Revco (SuperX), CVS, Walgreens, and Beltline Family Pharmacy, where she retired at the ripe old age of 79.

She truly dedicated her life to helping those she loved, her family and friends, she played a big role in helping raise her grandchildren. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL.

Helen never met a stranger, always offering a place to stay, a meal to eat, or to have you join in on a celebration if you had nowhere to go. She was one tough lady who lived life to the fullest, caring and loving for everyone that came in her path. 

Services: A celebration of her life will be held at Greater Alton Church, 506 E. Airline Dr., East Alton, IL on Sunday, December 8th, 2024 from 2-4 p.m.

Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or directly to the family.
