Helen Moore, beloved wife, aunt, sister, friend, and neighbor, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025 in Alton, IL. Born in Frozen Creek, KY on June, 28, 1935, she lived a life filled with love, generosity, and joy.
An award-winning golfer, Helen was admired for her talent, encouragement, and gracious spirit everywhere she went. She was also known for her warmth and hospitality-always cooking for her neighbors. She also shared a special love for her prized show dogs over the years.
Her deep faith guided her life, and she found strength, peace, and purpose through her love for Jesus and her community. In her last days she was surrounded by many loved ones including her special niece Sharon Hall and loving caregiver Angela Flemings. Those who knew her take comfort in knowing she is now at home with her Savior and reunited with her beloved husband, William P. Moore.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Kelcie Collins; loving husband, William P. Moore; sisters, Beatrice Newsom, Eula Lowe, Glema Brown, Evelene McCoy, Thelma Blackburn; and brothers, Harold Collins, Clifford Collins, Reford Collins and Clyde Plymale.
She is survived one sister, Mildred Nichols and many loving nieces, nephews, and several dear friends who will miss her deeply but celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm and hold a celebration of life service, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 11:00am at Elias, Kallal & Schaff Funeral Home - Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gordon F. Moore Community Park where Helen happily worked for several years.
