Harry “Uncle Jimmy” James Westbrook, 84, passed away at 12:03 p.m. on Monday November 18, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born May 12, 1940 in Alton, the son of the late Milton and Maxine (Doyle) Westbrook. 

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and worked for many years as a vendor for Canteen Company. On December 21, 1991 he married Cheri Bradley, and she survives. 

Also surviving are five sons, Doug Westbrook (Jama) of East Alton, Scott Westbrook (Teri) of Cottage Hills, Keith Westbrook (Lori) of Alton, Adam Westbrook (Molly) of Godfrey and, John Hughson (Aimee) of Brighton, eleven grandchildren, Schelle Fuhler, Kelsey Manescalco, Kayla Westbrook, Erin Westbrook, Andrew Westbrook, Kari Loehr, Noah Westbrook, Sylvia Hughson, Austin Westbrook, Alyssa Westbrook, Alexa Westbrook and two bonus grandchildren, Trevor Smith and Blake Smith, four great grandchildren, Zoey Manescalco, Josie Manescalco, Escher Fuhler and Ada Fuhler, and one brother, Lee Milton Westbrook of Alton. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Schelle one grandchild, David Westbrook, two brothers, Ronnie Westbrook, Billy Westbrook and one sister, Sue Booten. 

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. 

Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Alton or Disabled American Veterans.
