Harry E. Bell, 87, passed away at 7:00 am, on Friday, April 13, 2012 at his residence, with his family by his side.
He was born in Louisiana, MO in Pike County on January 22, 1925 the son of the late John “Jack” Collins and Pansy “Patten-Head” (Patterson) Bell.
Harry married Nellie F. Tolle, she preceded him in death.
He worked as a roofer for Roofing Contractors, and was a Commercial Fisherman for many years.
He is survived by a daughter; Victoria Bell of Medora, Il a step-daughter; Alice Spriggs of Alton, a granddaughter whom he raised as a daughter; Jessica Case of Wood River, seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter; Tina Marie Bell, a son; Roger Eugene Clinton Bell, two brothers; Alvin and James Bell of Alton, two half brothers; Jack Marshall of Alton, and Harry Bell of Hardin, four sisters; Daisy Bell, Violet Dallas, Rosie Evans and Lily Johnson all of Alton, and many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.
In celebration of his life visitation will be from 9 am till time of service at 11 am Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, the Rev. Jack Spitzner.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be directed to the Harry Bell family.
