Harry Buchanan, 82, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at his home.
Born Jan. 17, 1936 in Carthage, MO, he was a son of Orville and Mary Buchanan.
He married Pansy Ruth Harper June 6, 1954. She survives.
Harry retired as a steelworker from Laclede Steel in Alton. He was very active in his church, Rosewood Heights. Community Church, and loved to play pool and golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Shelva and Roy Lagemann of Edwardsville, Dennis and Viola Buchanan of Cottage Hills, Carol Jean and Donald Pruitt of Cottage Hills, Kenneth and Terri Buchanan of Bethalto, and Mary and Robbie Davis of Sikeston, MO; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Liz and L.T. Turley, Deveda Buchanan, and Darlene and Danny Owens, all of Sikeston; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Ollie Buchanan of Bethalto; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 1 at Rosewood Heights Community Church from 9 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Ron Wenzel will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
