Grace Bustos

Alton | Save

Grace Lauren Bustos, 17, passed away Friday October 03, 2025 at 10:05 P.M. She was born April 19, 2008 in Belleville, IL to Tomas and Meghan Bustos.

Grace attended Alton High School and with her hard work and dedication she was due to graduate early, she was very proud of that achievement. There was nothing she couldn't do, she taught herself how to crochet, knit, play guitar, play harmonica. If there was something she wanted to do she found a way to do it. She was extremely artistic; she sold her creations at the Alton Farmers' and Artisans' Market with two of her aunts (Kerry and Katie) every Saturday.

Grace never met a book that she didn’t like, in fact Harry Potter was her love language (she was a Hufflepuff). She loved music, and her taste varied greatly, from My Chemical Romance to Taylor Swift to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. She was building her collection of vinyl records. Grace loved people, she found a way to connect with everyone with a common interest, and if they didn't share one already, she became interested in something just so she could have a connection with everyone. Grace shared a special bond with her mom, they were best friends, they spent their time shopping or watching tv together. She loved all her cousins fiercely: Reilly, Cayden, Connor, Addie, Caroline, Logan, Lily, and Savannah. Grace’s love extended into animals, she loved all cats, she had four at home (Sparkles, George, Sirius, and her favorite, Penny).

Along with her parents she is survived by her brother Ethan Bustos, maternal grandparents Pat and Lois Brown, paternal grandparents Thomas and Inocensia Coretez, great grandparents Francis and Norma Ragsdale, her cousins, and many friends.

A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday October 15, 2025 from 3-7 P.M. and a memorial service will follow at 7 P.M. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL, Father Jeff Holtman will officiate. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com.
