Gloria Foronda

Gloria Miguel Foronda, 90, of Belleville, Illinois, born October 9, 1934, in the province of Isabela in the Philippines, passed away suddenly yet peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at her residence surrounded by family.

Gloria was a dedicated sister, beloved aunt, and faithful servant of God. She was wholeheartedly family-oriented and loved all children, especially babies. She immigrated from Manila, Philippines to Columbus, Ohio in 1979. She treasured her time caring for numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and relished sharing picture-perfect moments. Gloria, endearingly called “Tita Glory”, was a devoted Catholic woman who enjoyed attending mass and praying the rosary daily. She found great joy in singing hymns, expressing her sense of style, socializing with friends, and corralling partners onto the dance floor.

Tita Glory lived in Columbus for over four decades. She was a nanny in her younger years, and after arriving in the U.S. worked for the Holiday Inn and Marriott Hotels. Taking care of people was her calling, and she made it look easy. After retiring from the hospitality industry, she maintained her fitness by walking and riding the COTA bus to experience the city. She was also in fellowship with cherished BNP prayer group friends. Tita Glory moved to Belleville in 2022 and with her caring nature and spunky personality easily made friends. Visiting Our Lady of the Snows Shrine, listening to KSHE-95, and watching inspirational movies were favorite activities in her new hometown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Quiterio and Serapia, nee Miguel, Foronda; a baby brother Abraham Foronda; a baby sister, Estelita Foronda; a sister and brother-in-law, Trinidad and Rogelio Gadiano; a baby niece, Rowena Foronda Riel; and a nephew, Glen Frederick Gadiano.

Gloria is survived by a sister, Fe Foronda (Basilio) Riel; four nieces, Regina (Gregory) Heflin, Renee (Jamie) Osborne, Rosemary (Daniel Staples) Riel, and Virginia Faye Gadiano; two nephews, Willem (Christina) Gadiano and Richard (Diana) Riel; and a niece-in-law, Sherri Gadiano (Glen).
