Gerald W. Gerdes, 88, passed away at 5:23 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at his home.
Born May 17, 1929 in Bunker Hill, IL, he was a son of Ralph and Ruth (La Dassor) Gerdes.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he worked as a machinist for Owens-Illinois. Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly deep sea fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Inocencia “Bea” (Perez) Gerdes of Brighton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Karen Gerdes of Brighton and Randy and Vickie Gerdes of Godfrey; grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon Castellanos, Jennifer and Eric Ahrens, Nathan and Kristin Gerdes, Gerri and Dan Mazdra, Stacy Jarman, Garrett and Laura Gerdes, and Christopher Gerdes; several great grandchildren; a sister, Debbie Christopher of Shipman; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Diane Gerdes of Brighton.
Private services will be held by the family. Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights entrusted with professional services.
