George C. Evans, 91, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Charter Senior Living (Cedar Creek of Godfrey).
Born April 26, 1933 in Alton, he was the son of George and Viola (Boyce) Evans. He married Norma Dorsey on September 8, 1951. She preceded him in death in 2012. Mr. Evans retired as a supervisor from Con Agra.
He is survived by three children, Sandra (Curt) Bagwill of Godfrey, John (Libby) Evans of Helotes, TX, and Nancy (Rich) Ballard of Godfrey, nine grandchildren, Mike (Alex) Bagwill, David (Angie) Bagwill, Kevin (Abby) Bagwill, John Evans, Chris (Jilli) Evans, Ryan (Chris) Harrison, Katie (Nicholas) Charles, Shannon (Richard) French, and James Ballard, 13 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Robert Westbrook and a niece and nephew, Diana and Robert Westbrook.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend John Jaffry and Father Steven Janoski will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation.
