Gary Wright

Gary Wright, 59, died at 6:12 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026 surrounded by his family and loved ones at his residence after a long battle with type one diabetes. He was born January 17, 1967 in Champaign, IL, the son of the late Jack and Sandra (York) Wright.

Gary graduated from Central High School in Champaign, IL and he worked for American Water Company as a plant operator for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns and crossbows, motorcycles and the Chicago Bears. 

On October 24, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV he married Marilyn Payton and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Cole Wright, two step sons, Michael Anthony Young and Sette Randle (Reshelle)  and one step daughter, Feleshia Payton, five grandchildren and one  special granddaughter, Bebop, one twin brother, Terry Wright (Missy) and two sisters, Pam Tate (Sam) and Linda Franklin and a special nephew, Cameron Lee Wright, and numerous other nieces and nephews and his  three dogs, Bleu, G.G., and Charlie. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Caitlyn Wright and two stepsons, Tyler Randle and Vernon Randle, two brothers, Danny Wright and Robbie Wright.
