Gary Lee Hoffmann, 72 of Fairmont City, IL passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
He was born to the late Charles and Arvella (Goeglein) Hoffmann on September 27, 1951 in East St. Louis, IL. Gary had a big personality and loved socializing with his bar patrons at The Maple Inn that he owned with his Wife Mary. He and Mary were married on April 13, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV. Before he was a bar owner, Gary worked for Amax Zinc for 17 years. He enjoyed watching Cardinal’s Baseball and spending time with his family. Gary loved life, especially when he was “stirring the pot” at the bar with his patrons.
Gary is survived by his wife Mary Hoffmann; 3 sons: Gary (Dana) Hoffmann, Thomas (Danielle) Hoffmann, Matthew (Amy) Mordis; 7 grandchildren: Chandler Hoffmann, Chloey Hoffmann, Sierra Hoffmann, Aspen Hoffmann, Jeffrey Mordis. Elias Mordis, Jenson Mordis; 4 bonus grandchildren: Taylor Owens, Cameron Owens, Carlee Owens, Carsyn Owens; 2 great grandchildren: Quinn Wyatt, Sage Wyatt; 5 brothers: Larry (Theresa) Hoffmann, Terry Hoffmann, Rodger Hoffmann, Norman Hoffmann, Paul Hoffman; a sister: Martha Kopka; 2 brothers-in-law: William (Chris) Bovee, Dennis (Janet) Powers; a dear niece: Shelly (Toby) Owens; and mother to his two boys; Anna Tripp.
Besides his parents, Gary is preceded in death by a brother: Charles Hoffmann; and a sister: Darlene (Bill) Starr.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
