Fred Secor

Fred Secor, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 10:50 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at his home in Collinsville. Born December 16, 1943 in Alton, he was the son of Fred H. “Ted” Secor Jr. and Minnie Mae (Caldwell) Secor. Fred served as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and the Community Christian Church. He retired from Owens Illinois as a machinist/programmer. On April 16, 1967 he married the former Barbara Darnell in Alton. She survives. Also surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Tad and Andrea Secor of Edwardsville, and daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Dr. Andrew Williams of Glen Carbon, five grandchildren, Tatum, Tess, Juliet, Evan and Mia. He is also survived by two brothers, Donald Eugene Secor (Betty Jane) of East Alton and Terry James Secor of Hawaii, and a sister, Debra Heckman of Alton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Arnold. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2018 at Community Christian Church. Reverend Dave Burger will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in St. Louis, MO, the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Community Christian Church. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
