Frances J. “Jeannie” Pichee, 87, of Alton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Jeannie was born on July 6, 1938, to Francis and Alice (Laughlin) Maher in Alton, IL. She married the love of her life, Robert Pichee, on May 9, 1959, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. Robert preceded her in death.
A dedicated nurse, Jeannie earned her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and worked at both St. Joseph’s Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital. In 1975, she and a team of colleagues pioneered the Home Health Care Services at St. Anthony’s Hospital, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and care.
Jeannie is survived by her children: Dean (Terri) Pichee, Darin (Tammy) Pichee, and Doug (Beth) Pichee; daughter-in-law, Marie Pichee; and her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren: Megan (Dave) Pack their children: Amelia, Ellie, James, Grace; Andrew (Bailey) Pichee their children: Penelope, John; Nick (Kylie) Pichee their children: Nolan, Neal, Lane, Dylan, Cole; Randall Pichee his children: Owen, Aubree, Madison; Tyler Pichee, and Adam Pichee.
She is also survived by her special friend, Alexander Datzuk, with whom she shared a deep and loving bond; her “bonus son,” Pat Mcowan; her cousin, Kathleen Meyers, who was more like a sister; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her son, Daniel Pichee; her brothers, Michael J. Maher and Ronald P. Maher; and her nephews, Ryan Maher and Craig Roberts; niece, Sheryl Goodpasture.
Known for her vibrant spirit, Jeannie was an avid golfer who loved playing with family and friends. She was the “OPG - Original Party Gal,” bringing joy and laughter wherever she went. Her love for singing and dancing will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her devout Catholic faith carried her through life’s challenges.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton, IL. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton, IL.
