Fern V. Andersen, 92, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Bethalto Care Center.
She was born Sept. 25, 1919 in Tennessee Ridge, Tenn. to William and Myrtle (Travis) Andersen.
Fern’s family settled in Granite City, where she attended school. She then went to work for Silverblum’s Department Store and later P.N. Hirsch. She retired to care for her elderly parents.
She is survived by two nieces, two nephews, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; a sister, Marie Egeditch; and a twin brother, Vernon Andersen, Sr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 29 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 9 a.m. until services begin at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
