Evelyn Schoppet

Evelyn Louise Schoppet, 94, of Bethalto, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Liberty Village in Maryville, IL.

She was born in East Alton, IL, on November 27, 1929, the daughter of Silas A. and Verble E. (Bilderbeck) Bourland. She was married to Frank L. Schoppet for 16 years. She later married Harry G. Tice, they were together for 25 years, until his passing in October of 2007. After his passing, she remarried Frank 49 years after their first marriage. They spent two more years together enjoying each other's company, before his passing in September of 2016.

After graduating from Wood River High School in 1947, Evelyn worked in several banks and credit unions in the area as an administrative assistant, as well as the Bethalto School District. She was a member of Bethalto Presbyterian Church and the Women's Club of Bethalto. Evelyn enjoyed baking and her personal ministry of serving everyone her home-baked cookies. She also enjoyed gardening, entertaining, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family which she always greeted with an infectious smile.

Survivors include her children, Joseph (Denise) Schoppet of Bethalto, and Mark (Andrea) Schoppet of Naples, FL; a brother, Gerald (Joan) Bourland of Bethalto; and two grandchildren, Austin Schoppet of Bethalto, and Andrew Schoppet of Centralia.

Along with her parents, and husbands, Frank and Harry, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Meyer; and two brothers, Robert Bourland and Donald Bourland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Jerry Wray will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Bethalto Presbyterian Church and/or Murray Parents Association in Centrailia, IL.
