Evelyn June Walker, 82, died at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at her home in Godfrey. Born March 3, 1931 in Palmyra, IL, she was the daughter of Ellsworth and Dorothy (Bristow) Dikes. She worked as a selector for Owens-Illinois Glass for 33 years and worked for 21 years as a bus driver for Orrill Bus Lines. She was a member of the Heartland Baptist Church in Alton and loved animals and waking at the mall.
On November 23, 1955 she married Troy L. Walker in East Alton. He survives. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law; Luke and Judy Walker of Wood River, Dale and Betty Cook of East Alton, and Earlene and Paul House of Wood River, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Troy Walker, a daughter, Patricia Whitlock, two brothers in law and one sister in law; Kenneth Walker, Wilbur Walker and Mae Burgin.
Visitation will be Monday, April 29, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Reverend Jim Grant will officiate.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Baptist Church.
