Edward Leder

Edward Irvin Leder, age 69 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in O Fallon, IL.

He was born on Wednesday, June 29, 1955, in Highland, IL, the son/daughter of  Jack and Grace (nee Porter) Leder.

On Saturday, October 7, 1989, he married Sharon Arlene Leder nee Curtis  at St. Jacob United Church of Christ, who survives.

He was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ and a member of Laborers' Local #397St. Jacob United Church of Christ.

Edward was born and raised northeast of St. Jacob, IL. He was a 1973 graduate of Triad High School. After finishing high school, he joined the Laborer's Union, building smoke stacks and serving as general foreman for the other steel laborers. In addition to his work as a laborer, he engaged in farming, raising beef cattle. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching old movies, especially old westerns. He particularly enjoyed the time he spent with his wife and children. Ed was a member of Laborers Local #397 and a past president of the  Local #397 Executive Board. He was also a member of the St. Jacob United Church of Christ.

Daughter - Christina M. "Chris" Leder, Highland, IL

Mother -  Grace Mae Leder nee Porter, Highland, IL

Grandchild - Wrenley G. Seger, Trenton, IL

Sister - Carol S. (Wendell) Adams, Charleston, IL

Sister - LuAnn L. Bennett, Washington, D.C.,

Nieces and Nephews - Nieces & Nephews, Many

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ - Heritage Hall in Saint Jacob, IL.

Funeral Service/Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in Saint Jacob, IL, with Pastor Philip Barbier at St. Jacob UCC  officiating. 

Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, St. Jacob United Church of Christ.
