Edward Louis Joehl Jr., 99, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at 5:20 PM in Godfrey, Illinois.
Edward was born on January 1, 1926, in Alton, Illinois, to Edward Louis and Mayme (Senz) Joehl Sr.
He attended Quincy College, where he earned his bachelor's degree and met his loving wife. He served honorably in the US Navy in World War II. He later served as secretary/treasurer for Albrecht-Hamlin Chevrolet.
Edward was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton and proudly belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He cherished time spent golfing, had two hole-in-ones, and traveling with friends and family. He was an avid Cardinals fan.
Edward is survived by his loving daughter, Sharon Jourdain and son-in-law Bob Jourdain of Alton, IL; his grandchildren, Ellen (Mark) Miller of Agoura Hills, CA, and Katherine (Barry) Schranck of Godfrey, IL; and his great-grandchildren, Bradley, Clayton, Austin, Harper, and Charlie; his niece, Bonnie and Michael (Joehl) Cleary and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis (Pfeiffer) Joehl, and his brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Lib Joehl.
A celebration of life will be held on July 23, 2025 from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Professional arrangements are entrusted to Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Homes.
Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School.
