Edward Gaudreault

Edward Joseph Gaudreault, age 87, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Evercare of Edwardsville, surrounded by care and compassion. He was born on April 4, 1938, in Granite City, Illinois, a beloved son of the late Jacob and Myrtle (Oates) Gaudreault.

Edward lived a life rooted in faith, family, and dedication. A lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City and later a devoted parishioner of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, his faith remained a steady presence throughout his life.

Edward retired from Granite City Steel, where he proudly served as a foreman for many years, earning the respect of colleagues through his strong work ethic and leadership. Never one to sit still, he continued working in retirement with Goff & Dittman Florist and later New Beginnings Maintenance, always enjoying staying active and productive.

One of Edward’s greatest passions was bowling, a sport at which he truly excelled. A remarkably talented bowler, he competed in a professional bowling league and was a proud member of the St. Louis Bowling Association, earning induction into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Bowling was not only a sport to Edward, it was a source of camaraderie, pride, and family bonding. As recently as two years ago, he bowled alongside his three sons, winning two championships together. The team, fittingly named “The Goodrollz,” was a highlight of his later years and a memory he cherished deeply.

Beyond the lanes, Edward found joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and simply appreciating nature’s quiet beauty. Above all else, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family, whom he loved fiercely and unconditionally. His kindness, gentle humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Janice Gaudreault; his wife, Jane Williams; granddaughter Nicole Thorpe; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Jack McKinney; brother Jake Gaudreault; and brother-in-law Mike Gulash.

He is survived by his loving children: Richard (Maureen) Gaudreault of Troy, Illinois; Mark Gaudreault of Granite City, Illinois; Teresa (Anthony) Grimaldi of Southport, North Carolina; Phillip Gaudreault of Edwardsville, Illinois; and Dennis (Karen) Gaudreault of Granite City, Illinois. He is also survived by his former wife, Peggy Gaudreault Kachadorian of Oak Island, North Carolina; siblings Mary Gulash of Bethalto, Illinois, Tommy Gaudreault of Jerseyville, Illinois, and Linda (Larry) Buettner of Granite City, Illinois; sister-in-law Rosanne Gaudreault; his cherished grandchildren Janice, Jennifer, Katherine, Scott, Trisha, Tiffany, Jayla, and Nathan; many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In celebration of Edward’s life, a memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Illinois. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Jeff Goeckner.

Edward’s wishes were to have his body donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities.
