Edward Allan Evertsen, 82, of Alton, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Alton Memorial Hospital under the care of BJC Hospice.
He was born in Alton, on October 17, 1942, the son of Edward and Harriett (Fichtel) Evertsen. Edward married Sharon Wrightsman, and she survives.
Edward worked at Granite City Steel as a supervisor in the Hot Strip until his retirement. Some of his hobbies were working crossword puzzles, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Edward was an avid race fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, Sprint Car Racing, and dirt track racing. Most of all, he cherished his time spent with friends and family, especially dining out with them.
Along with his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his children, Karen (Ted) Meredith of Alton, and Joe (Karen) Dent of Columbia, IL; sisters, Marilyn Carroll, and Lana Perry; grandchildren, Tiffany (Chris) Anzalone, Nicholas (Amanda) Mellenthin, Christopher Mellenthin, Andrea Dent, and Patrick Dent; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Skylar, and Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private services will be held for the family at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
