Doris Norton

Doris M. Norton, 78, of Belleville, IL, born May 12, 1947, in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO, surrounded by family.

Doris graduated from Cathedral Grade School and the Academy of Notre Dame. She worked alongside her husband, Robert, as owner and operator of Norton’s Automotive. She was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral. Doris showed extreme generosity to so many of her friends and family members.

Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert F. Norton, whom she married February 14, 1968, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, and who died April 17, 2018; her parents, Paul A. and Lorene A., nee Louis, Feder; a sister, Virginia “Ginny” Lanter; and two brothers-in-law, Kevin Duffy and Edward Kisner.

Surviving are five brothers and sisters, Jean Duffy, Robert (Carol) Feder, Mary Kisner, Kathleen (Robert) deRoode, and Richard Feder; a brother-in-law, Verlan Lanter;

14 nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Mark (Dara) Feder, Michael (Cathy) Lanter, Nancy (Michael) McVey, Janice (Adam) Whitaker, Karen Lanter, Bryan (Kerry) Duffy, Patrick (Angela) Duffy, Veronica (Justin) Davis, Pamela Omelson, Charles Omelson, David deRoode, Nicole deRoode, Kelly (Adam) Dolezal, and Ricky Feder; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Nathan and Megan Lanter, Ryan and Erin McVey, Koty (Kristi) Whitaker, Samantha Whitaker, Kira Duffy, Graham, Zachary, and Hayden Duffy, Helena and Levi Feder, Cole and Lauren Davis, Leo and Margot deRoode, and Helen, Frederick, and Bertram Dolezal.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to St. Peter’s Cathedral. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon Saturday, July 19, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL, with Fr. Godfrey Mullen, OSB, officiating.

Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
