Donald Whitehead

Donald W. Whitehead, 83, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

He was born December 18, 1942, in Black Oak, Arkansas, a son of the late Melborn and Ila (Hill) Whitehead. Donald married Linda (Matchell) Whitehead on April 17, 1965, in Granite City, Illinois, and together they shared 60 years of marriage.

Don enjoyed a long and successful career in real estate. He retired from RE/MAX Alliance on November 30, 2022. Prior to that, he worked many years as a realtor with Landmark Realty. Don truly loved his profession and took great pride in helping countless individuals and families find the perfect place to call home. His integrity, knowledge, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on all who worked with him.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by a daughter, Christine VanHooser, and her husband, David, of Duncanville, Texas; grandchildren, Michelle Rucker (Ryan), Travis VanHooser (Megan), and Nicole Conejo (Hubert); seven great-grandchildren; his nephew, Phillip (Melanie) Whitehead, Sr., along with their children and grandchildren; and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Marion and Martha Whitehead.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, Illinois, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon, with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating. Don will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
