Delrae Dale Busch, “Del” 86, of Maryville IL and formerly of Collinsville and Highland, passed away at 12:16 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
He was born September 29, 1938 in Edwardsville, IL, a son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Carter) Busch.
September 13, 1958, he married “the love of his life “ Beverly A (Gramlich) Busch at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Highland. Beverly passed away on April 18, 2020.
Del started working at a young age of 10.His jobs included produce worker, to delivering ice from door to door to working at the Lux Movie Theatre.
Starting his career at McDonnell Douglas, he worked as a EE Inspector on Fighter Aircraft to the Skylab Space Station in Florida as well as working on FA-18 Aircraft in Victoria, Australia. He finished his career at The Boeing Co as a Quality Control Inspector.
Following his retirement, he enjoyed working at Chestnut Health Systems in Maryville, IL.
Del was a proud member of Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Maryville as well as St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Highland, IL.
Both he and Beverly enjoyed serving as Eucharistic Ministers.
Del was glad to be part of the Jaycees In Highland and a dedicated volunteer with his wife at the Maryville Food Pantry. Del also enjoyed his time with the local Parkinson’s Support Group and eating and joking around with friends at the Collinsville Senior Center.
He was very proud of his horseshoe throwing abilities, earning him several titles including a championship in Australia.
Del was always there to help with his children’s sports when they were young. Anytime spent with his children or grandchildren meant the world to him. He travelled as long as he could to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Dancing, he loved it and he and Bev could jitterbug until the cows came home.
He is survived by a son, Bob Busch of Flagstaff, Arizona; daughter, Shelley Busch of Maryville; grandchildren, Lee Manuelito, Maria (Nathan) Carroll, Kenna (Daniel Klimoski) Busch, Killian Menne and Isabel Menne; great grandchildren, James Carroll, Ryan Carroll and Rose Klimoski; sisters, Diana Trent of Ojai, California and Denise Menne of Scottsdale, Arizona; brother, Donny (Tina) Busch of Livingston; sisters-in-law, Liz Busch, Nancy Busch and Diane Busch; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife of 61 years and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Donna (Kenny) Myers, Darrell Busch, Denny Busch, Davey Busch, Duane Busch and a brother-in-law, Aaron Menne. He was preceded in death by three people that were very special to him and his wife - Carma, Christopher and Duane.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange Street in Maryville on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Rob Johnson as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorials may be made to the Busch family to be given to the local Parkinson Support Group in his memory.
